The Malta Transport Authority has obtained €15,000 from the European Union Programmes Unit for further training and development of Maltese bus owner-drivers.

The money comes from the Leonardo da Vinci programme that provides support for vocational training activities.

The funds will be used for training and development of 10 Maltese bus owner-drivers, who will be travelling shortly to Portsmouth, UK, for a two week, tailor-made working and familiarisation programme.

Throughout their stay, the bus owner-drivers will be participating in a number of wide-ranging training sessions and workshops. Particular emphasis is being put on customer relations and the provision of a quality service.

The Maltese bus owner/drivers will be accompanied by the authority's training and education manager, Louis Cuschieri and the Malta Tourism Authority's tourism support services manager, Noel Falzon.
