Bus lanes can be used by private vehicles carrying more than three people, including the driver, in a bid to encourage  transport sharing, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said in Parliament.

Answering a parliamentary question by shadow minister Marthese Portelli, Mr Mizzi said the bus lanes could also be used by persons on bicycles, motorcycles, taxis, electric and autogas vehicles.

He agreed with opposition MP David Agius that although this had been repeatedly said, the public could do with some new publicity on this aspect.
