To help mature students advance in their careers, the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC), part of the University of Central England, is pleased to announce the launch of a new, flexible-learning M.Sc. Logistics programme.
Professional technologists or engineers with first degrees can sometimes feel excluded from being able to develop their careers through busy job and family commitments.
Our progressive, new approach provides a unique study opportunity for Logistics and Supply Chain practitioners to expand their knowledge of this subject area, through a mode of study that can be easily integrated into an existing full-time work commitment.
As lead-academy for Cisco Systems covering Europe, Middle East and Africa, TIC is able to use the latest technologies to enhance the mature student's study experience and strengthen the skills of Logistics and Supply Chain businesses.
Using an established distance-learning platform, to structure and communicate interactively e-learning course content, TIC will enable part-time postgraduate students to study for an M.Sc. in Logistics at their own convenience.
An innovative, flexible approach will help students advance their knowledge through blending accessible on-line, remote support by tutors with periodic face-to-face tuition.
This Logistics course has been designed to provide a multi-disciplinary approach and understanding of the complex production flows, production processes, distribution channels of supply chains and operational issues of logistics, purchasing and supply chain management, logistics systems design, freight transport and warehousing operations, retail logistics and logistics systems software applications.
The course is designed with four online learning periods each of 15 weeks' duration interspersed with three-day face-to-face tutorials in the UK.
The aim of the course is to provide competent, innovative practitioners and managers with the ability to apply the principles of logistics systems, distribution and materials management to the solution of operational and strategic supply chain problems in global industry and commerce.
The course provides an academic base that will contribute to the development of knowledge and an opportunity to apply that knowledge in a practical way to real life business-related problems through the M.Sc. project, that will:
meet the market need for practitioners and managers with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate in companies, so that they may be able to identify and provide solutions to a wide range of logistical problems.
provide a mechanism to develop into a range of desired alternative disciplines, including supply chain management, automotive supply technology, manufacturing supply and systems design.
develop skills of analysis, synthesis, decision-making and the ability to cope with unfamiliar problems.
apply new technologies and techniques to solve present and future problems concerning both UK-based and global businesses.
There is a growing market need for practitioners and managers with the necessary knowledge to identify and provide solutions to a wide range of logistical problems. This course is designed to produce managers who can operate at a senior level in this field.
