A Gharghur businessman was yesterday charged with the attempted murder of a man when he fired a gun in his direction on Tuesday morning.
Giosue Gauci, 58, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Ronald Azzopardi and seriously injuring him in Sliema at about 10.30 a.m.
He also pleaded not guilty to the possession of an unlicensed firearm at the time of the commission of the crime.
Magistrate Michael Mallia heard how the incident was a result of escalating problems between the two men.
Gauci was remanded in police custody.
Police Inspectors Chris Pullicino and Daniel Zammit prosecuted.
Dr Matthew Brincat appeared for Gauci.
Dr Emanuel Mallia represented the victim.
