Rabat braces as Saqqajja road to be closed to traffic 'until further notice'

Infrastructure Malta announces partial closure as of Monday

One of Rabat's busiest roads will be partially closed from Monday until further notice as Infrastructure Malta (IM) begins works in the area.

Part of Saqqajja Road, heading towards Mdina from Triq Nikola Saura, will be closed “until further notice”, IM said in a Facebook post Friday.

Saqqajja Road is frequently used by motorists entering Rabat or Mdina, and services a petrol station. The agency advised motorists to use Triq l-Għeriexem to access Mdina during the works instead.  

The road closure comes as IM starts work in the area under its Vjal Kulħadd road design project.

Works are set to see the installation of new outdoor lighting, flora, an irrigation system, parking, electric vehicle charging points and bicycle and scooter racks.
