Today I received my Melita Cable invoice and as I have only the package which covers the Maltese and Italian stations, plus the Sports Channel, I expected that the bill would read Lm3.24 and Lm5.66 respectively.
But to my surprise, I was invoiced for Lm4 and Lm5.66. This year Melita Cable was authorised to raise the fee from Lm3.01 to Lm3.24 and therefore I querried this with the company. Their customer care informed me that four channels were added.
When I told them that I did not ask or wanted these channels, I was told that if I did not want these channels, and pay only Lm3.24, I would have to forfeit my converter, which would deprive me of my Sports Channel. This is very unfair, because I am being forced to pay for something which I never requested. And as I am a sports fan, I now have to pay 76c extra.
It is a pity Melita Cable does not have a competitor in cable television. I would be the first customer they would lose.
