Cancer patient thanks backers as donations reach €38,000

'The hardest part was seeing my mum crying'

Over €38,000 have now been raised for 32-year-old Calvin Brincat, who was diagnosed with two cancers last month.

"What started as a simple act of support has quickly turned into a powerful wave of solidarity," his supporters said.

Calvin, well known to many as a participant in the HazZzard TV show, was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer – a diagnosis that changed his life overnight. Since then the event planner and delivery worker from Birkirkara has seen his daily routine replaced by hospital visits and ongoing medical treatment.

The fundraiser was launched by a close friend to help cover medical expenses, daily living costs and unexpected needs.

"What followed exceeded all expectations. Within a short time, well-known Maltese artists and influencers, including Eurovision singer Miriana Conte, began sharing Calvin’s story, significantly amplifying its reach. Maltese media outlets soon followed, further raising awareness of the campaign," the supporters said.

Calvin said the most difficult moment was not the diagnosis itself, but its impact on his family.

“The hardest part was seeing my mum crying” – he said.“My family gives me a lot of love, support and courage”.

“This fundraiser reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by such amazing people” – Calvin said. “Every donation, message and share meant the world to me. Thank you for believing in me and supporting me through this journey.”

The fundraiser has now been closed and the funds will be used for his ongoing treatment.
