The election of the board of Bank of Valletta was called off this morning after a candidate dropped out, leaving an equal number of candidates as the number of seats in the boardroom.
The bank's annual general meeting was told this morning that Alicia Agius Gatt had dropped out at the last minute, removing the need for the election.
Times of Malta reported yesterday how Mr Portanier and Ms Agius Gatt had submitted their nomination even though the board had declared them to be “unfit for re-election.”
The other board members will be John Cassar White (chairman nominated by the government) Helga Ellul, James Grech, Mario Grima, Alfred Lupi, Taddeo Scerri (nominated by the government), Gabrielle Simonetti and Joseph M Zrinzo.
