Cannabis found in Birkirkara garage

A drug Squad raid on a Birkirkara garage on Friday yielded half a kilo of cannabis resin, as well as other objects related to drug trafficking and abuse, the police said.

At the time of the raid, there were three men in the garage: a 32-year-old from Birkirkara, a 24-year-old from Hamrun and a 19-year-old from Gzira.

The police are investigating two other men: a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old from Pietà, in whose possession they found pieces of cannabis.

They are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days, the police said.

The operation kicked off early in the afternoon and ended later on in the evening.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed of the find and appointed various experts to assist her in investigations, which are being carried out by Inspector Neil Harrison from the Drug Squad.
