Independent research undertaken by analyst house Info Source has found that Canon has again maintained its position as the leading brand across western Europe for its complete multi-functional printer (MFP) portfolio, Canon said.

With a 17.2 per cent market share by brand in the first half of 2008, this performance places Canon ahead of any other brand in the overall MFP market.

The Info Source figures show that Canon grew its market share in this period despite an overall market decline when compared to the first half of 2007. This growth in market share was spearheaded by the successful launch of the iR C2380i in March, which delivered strong sales in the second quarter of 2008. The model went on to win the spring 2008 'Pick' award by Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), a leading independent tester of document imaging products, recognising the model's excellent ease of use and scan functionality.
