The Park of Friendship in Marsascala will be opening its car park to the public at weekends and a shuttle service will take people into town, the Marsascala shops association said.

The association has reached an agreement with the park over the facility in view of the parking problem in the town, especially during weekends.

"This service is considered by the Park of Friendship as an aid to the business community in Marsascala, to Marsascala visitors as well as to residents," the association said in a statement.

People who use the charitable organisation's parking facilities would not only be avoiding the stress of looking for a parking place in the highly frequented centre of town, but would also be helping the non-profit organisation.

Parking will cost 75c. The shuttle service is optional, but costs 25c for those using it.

"The association members encourage all their clients to make use of the facility," the association statement said.

The agreement includes a shuttle service from the park to St Anne Square and the centre of entertainment in Marsascala. The service will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and will start from this week.
