Nicky Carabott wrapped up his commitments for 2006 on a positive note yesterday by winning the Marfel Trophy.

This trap competition, held at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija, was on 50 clays with the top six competitors targeting another 25 clays in the final barrage.

Carabott was the overall winner with a total of 66 points. His one-point lead over Eugene Borg at the end of the opening two rounds proved crucial as the two shooters hit 21 in the final barrage. Borg was runner-up with 65 points, one ahead of third-placed Jason J. Aquilina.
