Lawrence Bonello's foreign travels (July 30) must be somewhat limited. So are mine. But I have paid more than 25c to visit cathedrals in the UK and some churches in Venice.

These are two places that come to my mind at the moment. If I think a little bit more I am sure I can remember other places.

As a matter of fact, it is a pity that the administrators of St John's Co-Cathedral do not take a leaf out of the Victoria Cathedral Chapter and start asking for a fee for entrance which would include the museum.

Visitors to such places do not visit these places to pray but to look around as they look around any other museum, entrance for which is always against a fee.

For genuine worshippers a suitable simple quiet place can be arranged inside the cathedral itself, if any one of the other less elaborate churches in Valletta proves too far away!
