An exhibition of contemporary art has been inaugurated by First Lady Margaret Abela at San Anton Palace on the occasion of Woman’s Day.

The exhibition, put up on the initiative of the National Council of Women, includes works by 36 artists and covers several themes and mediums.

Because of limited space, not all the works submitted could be accepted a board was set up to choose the ones displayed.

Mrs Abela hoped all women would do what they believed in and continue working for the benefit of society.

She thanked the artists who will be contributing 25 per cent of the sale of each painting to the Community Chest Fund.

The exhibition is open daily between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The work may also be seen at www.maltacommunitychestfund.org .

Council president Grace Attard thanked all those who contributed to the exhibition.
