Maltacom Training College held a certificate and best customer award presentation ceremony recently at the Vivaldi Golden Tulip Hotel, St Julians.

Students who ended their academic year obtained an internationally-recognised qualification, the International Certificate in Telecommunications and the Diploma in Telecommunications.

Joe Busietta, chairman of the executive management board, said it was a great satisfaction to see the successful result of the hard work undertaken by all concerned and the efforts made by all tutors and students themselves the long and intensive certificate and diploma programmes have been highly successful.

These training programmes form part of Maltacom Training College's commitment to offer high standard training programmes for the local and international market. In fact both courses are ISO 9001: 2000-certified. Such courses are aimed at helping participants to acquire the knowledge, abilities and skills to meet the needs of the dynamically changing environment in career and professional development.

The diploma students held a presentation on their project, a two-way multiple channel remote monitoring and control system, enabling light intensity and ambient temperature to be controlled from a remote site.

Stephen Muscat, Maltacom group CEO, presented students that came from telecommunication companies in the Maldives, Falkland Islands, Seychelles, Cyprus and Maltacom's own students with certificates accredited by Oxford Cambridge RSA examining board.

Mr Muscat said the college was highly committed to continue offering high quality accredited courses.

Some 53 per cent of the students at the college are international, with 48,000 hours of training being given; 70 assignments and 30 exams. Mr Muscat recalled the partnership with the International Telecommunications Union and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation.

"We need to work harder to attract more students and expand the (college's) portfolio," he added.

Joseph Farrugia from Maltacom, and Marios Ploutarchou from the Cyprus Telecommunication Authority, who distinguished themselves during their studies, were presented with the best Student of the Year awards.

Dhiraagu - The Maldives Telecoms Company - was presented with the Best Customer International Award for supporting the college most during this academic year.
