The Malta Chamber of Commerce noted with "pleasure and satisfaction" the decision by Malta International Airport plc to issue a public call for tender for a skincare and cosmetics retail outlet in the departures area.
The chamber had commented publicly on the controversy that had arisen in July over the allocation of the retail outlet in question. Its public pronouncement at the time was intended for justice and fair play to reign, the chamber said.
It added that the decision to issue a public tender for the outlet was certainly conducive towards better transparency and fairness.
This was more so since, according to MIA's statement, "an independent commission will be appointed (by MIA) to administer and adjudicate the tendering process".
The chamber augured that this step shall act as a blueprint serving as a shape of things to come.
