The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry has congratulated the government on the timely reopening of the Maltese Embassy in Tripoli.

In a letter to the Prime Minister the chamber said it believed such a positive development represented a significant milestone for continued strong diplomatic and business relations between Malta and Libya.

This development was also significant for business from a practical point of view, in terms of facilitating visa arrangements which were crucial for the conduct of business and investment.

It hoped for the the swift recommencement of Air Malta flights to Tripoli and said that now that visa applications have been facilitated through the Maltese Embassy in Tripoli, regular flight connections to Libya would pave the way for the resumption of business for Maltese companies.

It recommended the organisation of a high-level political and business delegation to Tripoli at the earliest possible opportunity.
