The price of diesel has gone up by 7.6 per cent from 26c2 per litre to 28c2 and the price of kerosene rose from 12c8 to 13c2, an increase of three per cent.

Enemalta said yesterday the rises were with immediate effect. The diesel price reflects the new VAT rate. There is no VAT on kerosene.

The new prices reflect the upward fluctuations in the price of diesel and kerosene on international markets between October and December 2003, the corporation said.

Enemalta said the increase in VAT on petrol, both unleaded and lead replacement, had been absorbed by a decrease in international prices for the products. As a result, the price will remain unchanged for the coming three months - 35c6 per litre for unleaded and 38c6 for LRP.
