A Dutchman was yesterday charged with involuntarily seriously injuring a Maltese couple and slightly injuring three clients.

Quentin Meyer, 31, pleaded not guilty to causing a traffic accident in which Marilyn Hyatt and Helen and Richard Ball were slightly injured, and Vanessa and Mario Attard were seriously injured.

He was also charged with driving recklessly and causing damage to the Landrover he was driving and to the Attards' car.

The accident took place in St Paul's Bay on Saturday at about 10 a.m.

Police Inspector Pio Pisani prosecuted.

Dr Raphael Fenech Adami appeared for the defendant.
