A man was yesterday accused of stealing about €100,000 worth of jewellery during an armed robbery on a jewellery shop in St Julians last December.

Paul Michael Kavanagh, 31, allegedly held a sales girl at gunpoint inside Classic Jewellers just 10 minutes before closing time and took the large amount of jewellery on December 14.

He pleaded not guilty to holding the sales girl against her will, carrying a firearm during the commission of a crime, stealing a motorcycle, stealing number plates and relapsing.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera remanded the accused in custody.
