A 23-year-old Libyan was yesterday remanded in custody after he was accused of importing 2.2 kilos of heroin into Malta on Sunday.

Police drug squad inspector Norbert Ciappara and Police Inspector Nadia Lanzon accused Emad A. M. Alghrari of importing the drugs and with associating himself with others to traffick drugs in Malta.

Alghrari pleaded not guilty.

Dr Leon Bencini appeared for the accused.
