A 43-year-old man was yesterday charged with the violent indecent assault of his niece.

The man, whose name is not being published by court order, pleaded not guilty to the violent indecent assault of his 15-year-old niece, keeping her against her will and defilement on Tuesday.

The man was denied bail at this stage.

Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.

Dr Giannella Caruana Curran is appearing for the man.
