An Msida woman was yesterday charged with misappropriating about Lm30,000 after she deposited cheques addressed to a company, where she was a manager, into her personal bank account.

Joan Calleja, 32, a manager at Greenlines Environmental Services Limited, is pleading not guilty to misappropriation and fraud on and before May 2002. Magistrate Antonio Mizzi yesterday heard Inspector Joseph Cordina explain how Calleja was called in for questioning after a discrepancy in the company's bank account was noticed and a suspicious transaction report was made by HSBC bank.

The magistrate ruled there were enough reasons for Calleja's indictment.

Dr Martin Fenech appeared for Calleja while Dr Jason Azzopardi appeared in parte civile.
