A 24-year-old man was yesterday charged with making use of counterfeit Lm5 bills at a service station. Joseph Azzopardi, of Rabat, pleaded not guilty to making use of 12 counterfeit Lm5 bills at Cini Service Station, in Marsa and stealing diesel in July.

He also pleaded not guilty to driving a van without a licence and relapsing.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli presided over the case.

Police Inspector Ian Abdilla prosecuted. Lawyers José Herrera and Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Azzopardi.
