Chelsea enjoy 4-0 romp

Arsenal recover to beat Fulham

Champions Chelsea hit top gear with a 4-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion to maintain their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season yesterday.

Coach Jose Mourinho made six changes from the side that beat Arsenal on Sunday and started slowly but, once Frank Lampard slotted his 50th goal for the club, they raced to victory with Joe Cole, Didier Drogba and Lampard's second wrapping it up.

Chelsea's third successive win moved them to the top of standings with nine points.

Two goals from Thierry Henry and an unlikely brace from defender Pascal Cygan gave last year's runners-up Arsenal a welcome three points with a 4-1 victory over Fulham.

Fulham had taken a surprise lead through Claus Jensen shortly after Arsenal defender Lauren had missed from the penalty spot.

Tottenham Hotspur are still to concede a goal this season after grinding out a dour 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers, who played the last 15 minutes with 10 men after Lucas Neill was sent off.

Newcastle United's problems mounted as goals from El-Hadji Diouf and Stelios Giannakopoulos gave Bolton Wanderers a deserved 2-0 home win at the Reebok Stadium.

Newcastle have just one point from their first three games.
