Swiss hotelier Pierre Boppe, 55, is to take over as chief executive officer of Corinthia Hotels International as from next month.

Mr Boppe recently joined the CHI board of directors.

He has extensive experience in the travel and hotel industries. He is currently a board member of Kuoni, the international travel company based in Switzerland and until early this year was the CEO of the Peninsula Hotel Group, based in Hong Kong.

CHI operates 22 hotels in several countries, and is aiming to further strengthen the Corinthia brand and establish the company as a world class hotel management company.

Further changes were made recently to the CHI board of directors. Karmenu Vella was appointed chairman and Raymond Capdevila, formerly a CEO of Accor in Asia, became deputy chairman. Other members of the board remain Gerald Borg, Joe Fenech and David Woodward.
