The director of veterinary services said that as from June 1 no one can sell or buy chickens for the commercial production of chickens for meat or eggs unless the producers were so licensed by the department.

As from the end of June no licences for chicken processing would be issued unless the premises were suitably licensed and satisfied required standards.
