I am no fan of Alfred Sant or the MLP but I cannot stomach the childish criticism of the Nationalist press.

What do they want? The MLP to adopt Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici's stand on Europe? We would be in a far worse mess than we are. Many a great man has changed his mind and it is no dishonour for doing so. What is the point of criticising someone for sharing your own view no matter how belated it may be.

What is more important is that the Nationalist government is facing a tough time with regard to the economy, pensions and social services. I foresee we will need a government of national unity if things are to be pushed through and you do not get national unity by criticising someone for sharing your own views.

Referring to U-turns, it is for children not adults. I have had to make many a U-turn in my life to adapt to reality.
