Children deliver Christmas message in Għajnsielem

St Anthony of Padua children's choir sings carols as children deliver sermon

The traditional children’s Christmas sermon was held at St Anthony’s church in Għajnsielem on Christmas Eve, following the singing of Christmas carols by the St Anthony of Padua children’s choir.

This year’s sermon was delivered by Liam and Matthias, who conveyed a timely and reflective message on the true meaning of Christmas.

Through a structured dialogue, the children explored the contrast between materialism, social media culture and the enduring values of faith, generosity and human connection. Emphasis was placed on peace, solidarity and the importance of sharing with others, presenting Christmas as a celebration rooted in love rather than possessions.

The guardian of the Franciscan community, Fr Marcello Ghirlando, OFM, expressed his gratitude and presented them with a Baby Jesus statuette as a token of appreciation.

The sermon was repeated on Christmas Day during the 11am mass.
