Stagecoach Theatre Arts School raised Lm2,700 for children in need during its mega concert held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta.

The funds will go towards two institutions that assist children - The Eden Foundation and The Daniel Delicata Memorial Association.

The two-hour Stagecoach mega concert included songs from various musicals such as Les Miserables, Oliver!, Cats, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat as well as Queen and Whitney Houston hits.

Over 450 children participated in the musical extravaganza. For a number of the songs the children backed well-known performer and actor, Edward Mercieca, as well as the voices of Ruth Sammut Casingena, Matthew Anastasi and Beverley Farrugia.

Musical direction was in the hands of Ruth Sammut Casingena.

Following its success, Stagecoach was asked to take the show to Gozo to perform outdoors in front of the cathedral in Victoria. The concert raised another Lm500 for a Gozitan priest who is currently working with children in Guatemala.
