HSBC Cares For Children Fund has renewed its support for the Puttinu Cares - Children's Cancer Support Group. The third consecutive annual donation was presented by the fund's chairman, Catherine Gonzi, to Dr Victor Calvagna, chairman of the Puttinu Cares - Children's Cancer Support Group. The support group was set up in September 2002 with the aim of providing for ancillary needs for the families of children affected by all types of cancer.
"The HSBC Cares For Children Fund has been supporting the Puttinu Cares - Children's Cancer Support Group from its very first day in existence. In 2002, the fund not only began supporting the group financially but also happily gave it the right to use the well-known children's characters, 'Puttinu and Toninu' illustrations in their campaigns," said Mrs Gonzi.
Dr Calvagna said: "We aim to support families with a national information service, to campaign for the provision of a coordinated network of care and support, and to promote models of good care and practice. The group also assists in furthering the knowledge and skills of professional carers by providing specialist literature and education opportunities. In addition, fund-raising activities are organised to achieve all these initiatives."
