Sonia Camilleri, Commissioner for Children, addressed a group of parents and teachers at the annual general meeting of St Edward's College's Parent/Teacher Association.
She spoke about children's rights and the duties of both parents and teachers to respect these rights. She also spoke about the importance of certain non-academic subjects, such as physical education, media education and home economics and stressed the importance of boys being introduced to such subjects as cookery, which would hold them in good stead in the future when many fathers may find themselves in charge of their young children.
The parents were also addressed by Martin Scicluna, chairman of the board of governors, who spoke about the forthcoming celebrations marking the college's 75th anniversary in October.
