Malta sprinter and long jump athlete Rashid Chouhal will be aiming to improve his own long jump record of 7.65m when he takes part in this morning's heats in Munich.

Chouhal, who qualified for the long jump finals a week ago in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, is in Group A along with John Steffen (Denmark), Victor Malyavin (Russia), Peter Haggstrom (Sweden), Yago Lamela (Spain), Oleg Lukashevich (Ukraine), Yann Domenec (France) and Nicola Trentin (Italy). The top 12 jumpers from the two groups qualify for Sunday's final.
