The Christmas countdown starts as the lights go on in Valletta

Christmas in the City to feature daily events

The month-long countdown to Christmas started on Tuesday as the Christmas lights were switched on in Republic Street and other streets in Valletta.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici pressed the switch with Mayor Olaf McKay and Jason Micallef, chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency.

The ceremony also marked the start of the Christmas in the City programme, with events to be held by the agency right up to the New Year.
