Christmas pageant at San Lawrenz

The community of San Lawrenz is holding its traditional Christmas pageant on the main square on Friday, Christmas Eve, from 8 p.m. The pageant, which relates the story of salvation, opens with the Creation and fall of Adam and Eve. Written by Mgr Salv.

The community of San Lawrenz is holding its traditional Christmas pageant on the main square on Friday, Christmas Eve, from 8 p.m.

The pageant, which relates the story of salvation, opens with the Creation and fall of Adam and Eve. Written by Mgr Salv. Borg, the pageant also tells the story of the prophets and other important biblical figures and how the Virgin Mary agreed to be the Mother of God and Jesus is born in simple yet glorious surroundings.

Preparations for the pageant, in which around 150 people aged three to 75 take part, began various weeks before Christmas and involves the whole community. Youths also gave up their free time to contribute towards the event.

The pageant was first held 36 years ago and is a highlight of the Christmas season in Gozo.
