Division One hopefuls Balzan Youths have strengthened their squad with the signing of midfielder Silvan Ciscaldi.
Ciscaldi yesterday inked a three-and-a-half year contract with the club after obtaining his release from Pietà Hotspurs, also of Division One, last week.
The 25-year-old had been a mainstay of the Hotspurs' senior team for the last five years after coming through the youth ranks.
Ciscaldi attracted the interest of other Division One clubs but he opted to join Balzan after fruitful talks with club president George Borg. Ciscaldi is expected to make his debut for the Youths in Saturday's crunch match against Vittoriosa Stars.
Balzan are third in the standings with 12 points from six matches. Last weekend, they were involved in a feisty clash with fellow promotion seekers Mosta which ended two-all.
