Architect and urban planner Conrad Thake presented a paper entitled Re-Inventing Valletta - From The City Of The Order To A 21st Century Capital City during the colloquium Cities in Transformation - The European Union New Entrants And Their Urban Planning Agenda held in Berlin.

The conference was organised by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education in conjunction with the Robert Bosch Foundation.

The conference focused on spatial urban planning issues and each speaker presented a paper on an urban planning theme with specific reference to their country of origin.
