Valletta City Gate was closed to pedestrians while the overlying road was closed to cars this morning, ahead of the start of works on the demolition of the structure.

People arriving at Valletta bus terminus could use a shuttle bus to take them to Castille Place while traffic into Valletta was re-routed, but there were no major snarl-ups.

People, however, had problems accessing the Hastings area of Valletta, as evidenced by the fact that the car park there was practically empty this morning.
