Two free climbers were rescued by helicopter from the cliffs at Wied Babu in Wied iz-Zurrieq by the Armed Forces of Malta on Sunday evening after they got stuck.

The AFM said that at about 6.20 p.m. its Rescue Co-ordination Centre received a call from a woman who was free climbing with a man.

The couple found themselves in a situation where they could neither go up nor down, the AFM said.

A helicopter was sent to the area and the climbers were winched aboard.
