Club Malta suffer first defeat

The only surprise of the week was the first defeat of a depleted Club Malta side, in the men's Division Two, at the hands of Fleur-de-Lys CFK 1-3.

In the men's first division, Pembroke, as expected, beat Aloysians in the latter's worst performance so far. The 3-0 scoreline clearly indicates Pembroke's domination against an erratic Aloysians' side.

The same can be said for the other game where Kerygma Savemart Supermarket had to contend with the strong Fleur-de-Lys FEB attack.

With Kerygma playing without some of their more established players, Fleur-de-Lys could utilise all their reserve players and still coast to a 3-0 victory.

Kerygma Savemart Supermarket female counterparts also succumbed to a heavy 0-3 defeat to the more-quoted Ace Enka.

Ace made a strong start in the first set and despite substituting some first team players in the second and third sets they still managed to keep their opponents at bay to canter through to a comfortable victory.

In both the male and female U-19 categories, Kerygma made up for their seniors' defeats by winning the all important points by the identical score of 2-1 against Aloysians and San Anton respectively.

In the other female U-19 games, Flyers notched a fine win over a strong Ace Gianpula while Comets Playvolley beat Paola Di Milano 2-0. In the last match of the weekend Fleur-De-Lys CFK beat San Anton 2-0 in the men's category.

A look at the tables shows Fleur-De-Lys FEB leading jointly with Pembroke in the men's top division while Ace Enka have opened a clear five-point gap over rivals Pembroke in the women's category.

In the men's second division, San Anton are on top with Fleur-De-Lys CFK just one point behind. Paola Di Milano have a two-point advantage over close rivals Flyers in the ladies' section.
