Coast road bus stop partially destroyed as BMW smashes into it

One side of the Evangelista bus stop was decimated by the impact

A coast road bus stop was partially destroyed on Sunday when a BMW crashed into it after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

One side of the Evangelista bus stop shelter was decimated by the impact, with pictures of the scene showing shattered glass on the floor and the metal frame twisted and bent back, with an iron beam, now severed, lying against a wall nearby.

A metallic-coloured BMW could be seen heavily damaged, the front of it concertinaed, lying across the northbound lane of the road, which was closed to traffic.

The accident occurred at around 12.30pm on the section of road close to White Rocks, on the outskirts of Naxxar.

All four were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment. Further information about their conditions was not available at the time of publication.
