A tip-off about a man allegedly trafficking drugs in Qormi, and subsequent police investigations, paid off yesterday, the police said.
The tip-off led the police to a "considerable" amount of cocaine.
A 31-year-old man from Qormi is being investigated and is expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
The police said the drugs were found after plainclothes policemen shadowed the man whom they later arrested. At one point, the alleged trafficker was stopped while driving his car. In a subsequent search in the car, the police allegedly found several packets containing cocaine ready for trafficking.
More cocaine and a weighing scales were found during another search inside the suspect's garage in Qormi.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano has appointed a team of court experts to assist in an inquiry.
