Colleges fly pupils over southern Italy

Over a 150 pupils from state schools earlier this month enjoyed an exhilarating flight over Sicily, southern Italy and the island of Stromboli.

The children, accompanied by school staff and parents, particularly enjoyed the excite-ment of take-off and landing, viewing Malta from the air, and observing the snow-capped active volcanoes of Mt Etna and Stromboli. During the one-and-a-half-hour flight aboard an Air Malta A320 plane, pilot Capt. Joe Farrugia gave the children a running commentary, and all passengers were able to visit the cockpit.

The children attend schools that form part of Maria Regina College, St Clare College, St Ġorġ Preca College and St Nicholas College. The flight was organised by Mario Schembri and Carmen Muscat, assistant heads at San Ġwann Primary B.
