Valletta have confirmed the signing of Colombian striker Jhony Moises Cano Barrios.
It was the Times of Malta who on Thursday had revealed the identity of the 30-year-old striker who was training with the Malta champions.
Cano Barrios has trained for two successive days with the Citizens and he has done just enough to convince coach Darren Abdilla to offer him a contract until the end of the season.
"Valletta Football Club is delighted to announce the official agreement of terms with Jhony Cano" the Malta champions said in a statement.
"The 30-year-old Colombian striker from Cartagena, has signed a contract with the champions till the end of this season, with a club option for the following.
"On behalf of all of us at Valletta FC we would like to welcome Jhony and wish him all the best with our club."
The 30-year-old has spent the majority of his career in Colombia where he was on the books of La Equidad, Deportes Tolima and Jaguares de Cordoba.
Last season, he returned to Real Cartagena and this term he looked in good scoring form after managing to find the net ten times in the Colombian second division.
The arrival of Cano Barrios further strengthens Valletta's striking options which already features Bojan Kaljevic, Kyrian Nwoko and Mario Fontanella.
Cano Barrios is expected to make his debut for Valletta in Monday's match against Sliema Wanderers at the National Stadium.
The Malta champions are currently fourth in the Premier League standings on 26 points, five points adrift of leaders Floriana.
