¤ Lenten sermons for youths are being organised at St George's parish church in Victoria from tomorrow to Friday at 7.15 p.m. The archpriest, Fr Frans Abdilla, will be the speaker.

¤ Lenten sermons for Gozitan University students are being held at the chapel of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hriereb Street, Msida on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7.30 p.m. Fr Alfred Farrugia, MSSP, will be the speaker.

¤ The 14th centenary of the death of St Gregory is being commemorated in Kercem next week. The parish is also celebrating the centenary of the titular statue.

The Feast Decorations Youth Group is organising the traditional dinner at July 8 Centre, on Thursday at 8.30 p.m.

On Friday, the St Gregory Band will play marches from Independence Street to the Sisters' convent at 5.45 p.m. Bishop Nikol Cauchi, accompanied by the Collegiate Chapter, will lead the translation of the relic of the saint from the Carmelite Sisters chapel to the parish church at 6. Cardinal James Stafford will be welcomed by the parish clergy and the St Gregory Band on the church parvis. This will be followed by a Pontifical concelebrated Mass, led by Bishop Cauchi, with the participation of the St Gregory and the Stella Maris choir and orchestra, at 6.30. A social activity is being organised for the youths of Kercem at the July 8 Centre at 8.30.

On Saturday, the eve of the feast, Mass with the singing of the Te Deum will be said at 7.30 a.m., followed by a conference and reception for the parish clergy, led by Cardinal Stafford at 9.

At 6 p.m. Vicar General Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci will lead a diocesan pilgrimage from Salvatore Busuttil Square to the parish church where he will lead a pontifical concelebrated Mass with the participation of the parish clergy and the Gozitan college of parish priests. This will be followed by a fireworks display and marches by the St Gregory Band on St Gregory Square at 7.45 p.m. Feast celebrations, which started last Wednesday, will end on Sunday.

¤ Tkun Maghmula r-Rieda Tieghek, a passion play based on traditional medieval religious plays, is being held at the Sacred Heart Seminary Sports Complex in Victoria on Saturday at 7 p.m.

¤ A dinner to raise funds for the feast of Santa Marija is being organised by Vampa Organisations sub-committee in collaboration with the Leone Band Club, at the band club on March 18 at 7.30 p.m. Tickets can be obtained from Connie Island Bar, the Leone Band Club or from members of Vampa Organisations.
