Activities to mark Nadur council's tenth anniversary continue this week.
A meeting, entitled Accessibility and inclusion within organisations, is being held at the parish centre hall today at 10.15 a.m. The meeting will be led by the Kumissjoni Nazzjonali Persuni b'Dizabilità in collaboration with Ronald Balzan from the Support Agency.
A meeting with the theme 'Ten years of the local council - the road ahead of us is being held at Nadur primary school hall tomorrow at 7.30 p.m.
A special programme for the elderly is being organised at the parish centre on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
An exhibition with photos of Nadur and the ten years of work of the local council is being held at the Mnarja band club from Wednesday at 7 p.m. to Sunday at noon. A video on the works of the Nadur council will also be shown. Mementoes of the occasion will be distributed to the those who were on the Nadur council during the past ten years.
Archpriest Mgr Salv Muscat, accompanied by the collegiate chapter and clergy, will lead concelebrated Mass at St Peter and St Paul Basilica, on Thursday at 6.30 p.m. The St John Co-Cathedral choir will also be participating, followed by a reception for the members of organisations of Nadur at Mnarja Band Club at 8.
The Internet Centre at the local council office is being inaugurated on Friday at 9 a.m. This will be followed by a programme, held by the children of the Nadur primary school, with the presentation of prizes to the winners of an essay competition at 10. A get-together for Maltese and foreign residents will be held at the band club at 7 p.m.
A ceremony for the planting of new olive trees in the Council Garden is being held on Saturday at 3.30 p.m. Mayor Dr Chris Said, accompanied by Professor Giuseppe Caccavale, mayor of Cicciano (Italy), and Dr Paolo Marchioni, mayor of Baveno, will unveil the plaque, commemorating the local council's 10th anniversary.
The Manrja Band will play marches at 7, followed by a show at the Mbc Theatre at 7.30. There will be performances by the Chorus Urbanus, the Body Art Dance Group and the Gozo Youth Wind Orchestra. The Gieh in-Nadur awards will be presented during the event, followed by the distribution of honorary Nadur citizenship to a number of representatives. Certificates will be presented to those who attended courses organised by the local council during summer. The winners of the photography compeition will also be announced.
A concert, to celebrate Mro Joseph Galea's 10th year as the conductor of the Victory Band, is being held by the Victory Band Club, at the band club, Xaghra, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Participants include soprano Rita Dimech, mezzo-soprano Sylvia Bonello and the Nativitas choir.
