¤ The feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, being celebrated throughout the week at Zebbug reaches its climax on Sunday.
A procession with the statue of Our Lady, accompanied by the Ite ad Josef Band will be held tomorrow at 9 p.m.
Fr Emanuel Curmi, director of Caritas in the Gozo Diocese, will say Mass on Tuesday at 7 p.m. During the offertory, the people of Zebbug will give food and donations to charitable institutions.
A traditional dinner, will be held in the village square at 8.30. Special guests include singers Miriam Christine Borg, Christian and Gabriella Grech, as well as The Broadcasters.
Nisget il-Bejta, a musical programme, is being organised, under the patronage of President Giudo de Marco, at Church Street, on Wednesday at 8.30 p.m. Professor de Marco will lay the foundation stone of Santa Marija Band Club, which will be blessed by Bishop Nikol Cauchi.
Fr Paul Bugeja OFM, guardian of the Capuchin friars, will lead concelebrated Mass for couples who got married in the past year and attended marriage preparation courses, as well as those celebrating their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
This will be followed by a barbecue, with the participation of Ira Losco and id-Dulli, organised by the Zebbug Rovers Football Club, at 8.30.
A procession with the statue of Our Lady, accompanied by the Santa Marija Band, will be held on Friday at 9.30 p.m., followed by a fireworks display, on Assumption Square, at midnight.
The translation of the relic of Our Lady will be taking place on Saturday, the feast's eve, at 6.30 p.m. Fr Michael Attard, OFM, guardian of the Franciscan friars, will lead a solemn concelebrated Mass, followed by a Eucharistic celebration.
La Stella Band is holding a musical programme on the band stand at Assumption Square, at 9.30, while the St Gregory Band will be playing marches in the streets of the parish. This will be followed by a fireworks display at 11.30.
¤ A Sportsfest is being organised by Fontana parish from September 15 to 19. During the finals there will also be a barbecue. Applications and further information can be obtained from the parish office till tomorrow.
¤ The Diocesan Commission for the Lay Apostolate (KDAL) is organising a marian pilgrimage to Our Lady of Victory parish church, in Naxxar, on Tuesday. The group will board the 5.15 p.m ferry to Cirkewwa, where transport is available. Bishop Nikol Cauchi will lead a concelebrated Mass. The group will board the ferry back to Mgarr at 9 p.m. Tickets may be obtained from all parishes.
¤ The Gozitan Missionary Support Group is organising a tea tombola in aid of Gozo missionaries in Third World countries at the Crystal Palace Hotel, Marsalforn on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m.

A thanksgiving Mass, with the participation of the Chorus Ecclesiae, will be said by archpriest Mgr Joe Vella Gauci at 7.15 p.m. The statue of Our Lady will be put back into its niche, with the participation of the Leone band, at 8. This will be followed by a barbecue on Cathedral Square at 8.30.
¤ A variety evening is being organised by the Xaghra council and the Our Lady of Victory fund-raising committee, to raise funds for the village feast, on Friday at 8 p.m. Participants include Audrey Bartolo, Lorenzo and Rita, Miriam Christine Borg, Melissa Xuereb, Silvana Bonello, Ringo u Bamboccu, Joe id-Dulli and Veronica. Food stands will be available. A trip to Sicily can be won with the entrance ticket.
¤ An exhibition, organised by the Nadur council, featuring statues by young artist Charlie Camilleri, is being held at Kenuna Tower, Nadur, till Sunday, from 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The exhibition was officially opened by mayor Chris Said and blessed by archpriest Mgr Salv. Muscat.
