¤ The feast of St Peter and St Paul is being celebrated at Nadur today. At 9 a.m. Bishop Nikol Cauchi will lead a pontifical concelebrated Mass and deliver a panegyric. He will then present this year's Golden Heart Award to the most deserving boy or girl.

The St Gregory Band of Kercem and the St Helen's Band of Birkirkara will play marches through the streets of Nadur, starting at 11 a.m. Traditional horse and donkey races will be held at Ta' Xhajma Street at 2 p.m.

At 6.30 p.m. the archpriest, Mgr Salvu Muscat will lead sung vespers, accompanied by members of the Basilica's chapter.

The procession with the statue of the saints, accompanied by the Mnarja Band and the Leone Band, leaves the church at 8 p.m.

¤ The Victoria International Arts Festival continues this week at St George's Basilica, Victoria.

Today at 8 p.m. Ernst Lechthaler and Patrick Holming will give a recital of Lieder by Schubert. A Renaissance music and dance event will take place tomorrow, followed by the La Vallette Clarinet Quartet on Tuesday. An Enchanted Evening of Dance, entitiled The Dance Collage, organised by the Tanya Bayona-Princess Poutiatine Academy of Ballet, is being held on Independence Square on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Sophie Grech and Simone Attard will give a vocal recital on Thrusday at 8 p.m., followed by the inauguration of Philip Chircop's Janascharco Trio art exhibition.

¤ An entertainment night is being organised by the Nadur council, at the Council Garden, Our Lady of Fatima Street, Nadur, tomorrow at 8 p.m. The event, directed by Joe Demicoli, will feature singers Miriam Christine Borg, Julie Zahra and Ludwig Galea, as well as dancers from the Keith and Antonella dance group. A fashion show and tombola will also be held.

An outing for the elderly is being organised by the council on Thursday at 5 p.m.

¤ A tombola party is being organised in the courtyard of Fr Matthew Sultana School in Xaghra, on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. Tickets at Lm1.50 include food and drink.

¤ A tea tombola is being organised by the Gozo Missionary Support Group, at the Crystal Palace, Marsalforn, on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. For tickets, at Lm1.25 each, phone Georgette Balzan on 2155-5709.

¤ Canada Day is being celebrated by the Maltese Canadian Association in Gozo on Tuesday. A ceremony with the raising of Maltese and Canadian flags and the playing of National anthems will be held at the Emigrants Memorial at Mgarr, where flowers will be placed.

¤ An Anglican Eucharist will be held at the chapel of the Sacred Heart Seminary, Victoria, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The event will be celebrated by Canon Alan Woods, who will be leaving Malta in September to become Dean of the Anglican Cathedral in Girbraltar. ¤ The feast of the Visitation of Our Lady is being celebrated at Gharb on Sunday. Concelebrated Mass, dedicated to those married at the parish church from 1978 till 1953, will be held on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. This will be followed by a traditional dinner on the church parvis at 9 p.m. The Precursor Band of Xewkija will be playing marches in the village streets, on Friday at 9.30 p.m.

A procession with the sacred relics, led by the Vicar-General, Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci, will be held on Sturday at 6.30 p.m. A direct radio broadcast from Australia will take place on the church parvis at 9 p.m. The Leone Band and St Joseph Band will perform at 9.30 p.m.

¤ Cardinal Edward Michael Egan of New York City will give a talk on the Catholic Church in Comtemporary Society, at St George's Basilica in Victoria, on Friday, July 11, at 6 p.m.

Cardinal Egan will be a special guest for the feast in honour of St George, whose 17th centenary is being marked this year.

A traditional dinner, with singing, will be held at St George Square at 8 p.m. Tickets can be obtained from the La Stella Band Club.

¤ The University of Malta Gozo Centre is organising short cources during July and August. They will cover Applied Business Statistics for Management, Challenges of Today's Families and Power Electronics and Electronic Drives.

A seminar on childhood and adult immunisation, is being held at the University of Malta Gozo Centre on Saturday from 9.30 a.m. till 5 p.m. Those interested may contact the centre on 2156-4559 or 2156-2054, by fax 2156-4550 or by e-mail ugc@um.edu.mt.

¤ A seven-week cooking course, for up to 20 people, is being organised by Karmen Tedesco in Xaghra. Those interested may contact the local council office on 2155-6849.
