¤ Zebbug today celebrates the feast of the Assumption. Bishop Nikol Cauchi leads a concelebrated Mass this morning at 9. At 11.30 there will be band marches in the main streets. Horse and donkey races will be held at 2 p.m.

A concelebrated Mass with sung vespers will be held at 6 p.m., led by Fr Frankie Cini. The procession, accompanied by the Santa Marija Band, starts at 7.15 p.m.

¤ Celebrations marking the feast of Our Lady of Loreto in Ghajnsielem next Sunday, start today with a Mass for emigrants led by Mgr Gregory Grech at 10 a.m. followed by a meeting. The St Joseph and Santa Marija bands will play marches on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. The St Joseph and Precursor bands play marches on Friday at 9.30 p.m. Canon Joseph Zerafa leads a concelebrated Mass on Saturday at 8.30 a.m.

The solemn translation of the relic will take place from the old church to the new church, where vespers will be sung and a Eucharistic celebration led by Mgr Lawrenz Xerri. The Mnarja Band will play marches at 9 p.m., followed by a concert on the main square. The St Joseph and Leone bands play marches at 9.30 p.m. A fireworks display starts at midnight.

¤ The Our Lady of Victories External Feast Committee is holding a tombola party on the church parvis tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday evening.

¤ The feast of St John the Baptist will be marked at Xewkija parish with a sports activity sponsored by the local council on Tuesday from 6 p.m. A traditional dinner, organised by the festa decorations committee, will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Special guest: Il-Budaj. There will also be singing, sketches and a talent show.

Tickets are obtainable from the parish centre or selected local shops. Bishop Cauchi leads a concelebrated Mass on Thursday at 6.30 p.m. with the participation of the Kor Vox Clamantis. The Precursur Band plays marches at 9 p.m.

¤ St Joseph Band Club of Ghajnsielem is holding a concert, in collaboration with the local council, directed by Mro Joseph N. Sammut, FLCM (Lond.), on the bandstand on the church square on Tuesday at 9 p.m.

¤ Fabio and Friends are holding a choral and soloists concer in Narrow Street, Victoria, on Wednesday at 8.30 p.m.

¤ To mark Gharb Day, the local council is holding a one-man exhibition by John Barbara at the Gharb Folklore Museum between Thursday and September 15. Works include portraits in various media and watercolours.

¤ The Gozo Cancer Club is holding a buffet dinner at Palazzo Margherita Garden, Sannat, on Friday at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are obtainable from Joyce Rapa (tel: 2155-1258) or Pauline Scicluna (2155-5658).

¤ Gozo Summer Night, a variety show organised by the MTA, will be held at Marsalforn Bay on Friday at 9 p.m.

¤ A Gospel Power Service, including a healing service, led by Dr John Bonnici Mallia, will be held at Ta' Pinu Sanctuary on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.
