¤ The feast of St John the Baptist is being celebrated in Xewkija today. Masses will be celebrated on the hour from 5 to 8 a.m. and at 10.30 and 11 a.m.

Concelebrated Pontifical Mass, led by the Bishop of Benghazi, Mgr Sylvester Magro, with panegyric by Fr Diego Theuma, OFM Cap, parish priest of Maria Regina church, Marsa, will be held at 8.45 a.m.

Marches, performed by the Santa Margherita and Leone Bands, will be held at 11 a.m. They will be followed by horse races at 2 p.m.

A concelebrated Mass, led by Mgr Carm Gauci, at 6 p.m. will be followed by a procession, with the participation of the Precursor Band.

All activities will be broadcast on Precursor Radio (99.3 FM) and streamed at www.gozodirect.com/prekursur.

¤ The feast of St Peter and St Paul is being celebrated in Nadur today.

Today, marches will be played by Mnarja Band and an agrarian exhibition will be blessed by Archpriest Salv Muscat, with the participation of Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and mayor Chris Said, on Archpriest Martin Camilleri Square, at 8.30 a.m.

On Tuesday, a traditional meal will be held at 9 p.m. Compered by Benny and Tonia Grima, it will include entertainment by singers Ira Losco and Freddie Portelli, the Mnarja Folk Group, il-Budaj, Ace Line dancers and Alexis Samantha Falzon, among others.

On Thursday, marches through the main streets of Nadur will be performed by the Mnarja, St Joseph and Precursor bands at 9 p.m. followed by a fireworks display at midnight.

On Friday, a procession with the relics of the Saints, led by Mgr Beniamino De Palma, Archbishop of Nola, in the province of Naples, will be held at 6.30 p.m. Marches, performed by the Victory and Mnarja Bands and the Imperial Band of Mellieha, and a fireworks display will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, Concelebrated Pontifical Mass, led by Bishop Sylvester Magro, OFM, and Archbishop De Palma, with a panegyric by Fr William Axiaq, OFM Cap., will be held at 9 a.m. It will be followed by the Premju Qalb Generuza award-giving ceremony.

Marches, performed by the St Gregory Band and the St Helen Band, of Bikirkara, will be held in the main streets of Nadur at 11 a.m. Traditional animal races will be held in Ta' Xhajma Street at 2.30 p.m.

A procession with the statue of the saint, led by Archbishop De Palma and Mgr Magro, accompanied by the Mnarja and La Stella Bands, will be held at 8 p.m. It will be shown live on Net TV.

¤ A coffee morning, organised by the Cathedral parish, is being held at Villa Fiorita, Marsalforn, on Tuesday. Transport leaves Savina Square at 8.45 a.m. Tickets at Lm1.25 may be obtained from Coney Island Bar (tel: 2155-1289) or Grace Debono (2155-1460).

¤ A coffee morning to raise funds for Lourdes Home, is being held at Maria Lauretana parish centre, Ghajnsielem, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. (Tickets cost Lm1).

¤ An outing to Malta, to attend the feast of St George in Qormi, will be held on Thursday. The ferry leaves Mgarr at 6.45 p.m. Tickets at Lm2 may be obtained from members of La Stella Youth Group.

¤ A meeting for those working in the social care field is being held at Oasi Foundation at 5, Wied Sara Street, Victoria, on Friday at 12.30 p.m.

¤ Mnarja night, organised by the Victoria Scout Group, is being held at the Scouts' headquarters in St Domenica Street, Victoria, on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets at Lm3.50 and Lm2 for children from six to 12 years of age, may be obtained until Wednesday at the headquarters (tel: 2155-6497), Bookpoint, Josie's Supermarket or Rose Briffa Store.

¤ Summer computer and Internet courses for children from Years three to six and from Forms one to three are starting in the first week of July. All lessons, in an air-conditioned computer room, will be practical, graded, with educational software learning and on-line Internet sessions, including Website design, office applications, e-mail, study skills and Web graphics using ADSL connection.
